Excel is the world's most popular spreadsheet program and belongs to the Microsoft Office suite. Excel can be purchased for both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh operating systems. Excel allows the user to create spreadsheets and graphs.

Since 1993, Excel includes Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), a programming language based on Visual Basic which adds the ability to automate tasks in Excel and to provide user defined functions (UDF) for use in worksheets.
